Findings – Results indicate that the majority of the students acknowledged that iMindMap is more attractive than conventional teaching methods and found that iMindMap shows clearly how the points are all associated and linked together. Design/methodology/approach – Out of 268 students of the management accounting at the University of Technology MARA (Terengganu), 97 students have participated in this survey to evaluate the effectiveness of iMindMap in teaching and learning. For instance, concept maps can be exported from IVA to CmapTools or other tools that support XTM specification.Ībstract Purpose – The purpose of this study is to explore the use of iMindMap software as an interactive tool in the teaching and learning method and also to be able to consider iMindMap as an alternative instrument in achieving the ultimate learning outcome. Despite this concept mapping tool has several unique pedagogical features, interoperability with other stand-alone concept mapping tools has been reached. This paper describes conceptual design and implementation of a concept mapping tool that has been integrated into an open-source virtual learning environment IVA. Lack of interoperability and poor integration of concept mapping tools with widely used Learning Management Systems increases workload of teachers, because of poor reusability and automation opportunities. Digital alternatives to paper-based concept mapping (from simple digital whiteboard to dedicated concept mapping software) are increasingly popular among educators, but computer-based concept maps are still difficult to analyze, assess, expand or export to other software platforms. Interoperability and integration of digital concept mapping tools has not been widely prioritized and supported by software developers.

There have been no warnings on MacUpdate’s front page, or even on the product pages themselves, only in their comments.įor those who pay MacUpdate a suscription for the privilege of receiving free links to download malware, using its MacUpdate Desktop app, they don’t even get to see those comments. Over 24 hours later, the only mention of this major security breach on MacUpdate is in the comments to those three specific updates. It is salutory to look at what MacUpdate has done since being alerted to the fact that they posted bad links on their site. All the malware provider has to do is find somewhere plausible to host their downloads, and convince the aggregator to post the links. All the aggregator did was to provide bogus links, so that users who thought that they were being connected with the vendor’s download were actually hijacked to the malware delivery sites (which were being hosted on Adobe’s servers, hence the name of this malware).įor an aggregator providing off-site links to downloads, this is pretty well the oldest trick in the book. In the case of the three malicious updates known to have been offered by MacUpdate, none was actually hosted on MacUpdate’s servers. In this respect, this week’s new malware, OSX.CreativeUpdate, is an excellent lesson in what not to do. And given that breaches will continue to occur, one of their most important tasks is responding to such breaches. Given that we are going to have to rely on online distribution, the burden of minimising risk is placed on distributors. Besides, no Macs now ship with optical drives, so finding a way to install cheap distribution media wouldn’t be easy for the great majority of Mac users. With rapid delivery services from almost any part of the world, this is not such a bad alternative, but major intermediaries like Apple would lose a lot of revenue. One solution might be to return to physical media, at least for new purchases. So we need strategies to minimise the risk to our Macs. There seems no escaping the fact that our sources of new software and updates will continue to be under attack, and that, from time to time, they will deliver us malicious software. They have also hit update aggregators: this is at least the third time that MacUpdate has generously helped its users to install malware, the last incident involving Eleanor. They have hit a succession of individual providers, some repeatedly the most recent victim was Eltima, for example, whose software delivery and update service must now be one of the most secure. They have hit Apple’s App Store with XcodeGhost, delivering malicious apps to millions of users in east Asia for around six months before its detection. Those who develop and distribute malware now target all online sources of software products, including update sites. Since I first started visiting update aggregators, the threat landscape has changed considerably. My favourite has not been MacUpdate, thankfully, which in the last few days has once again been found to have been inadvertently distributing malware by proxy. For many years, one of my routine daily web visits has been to a software update aggregation service, to check for new updates. Joe Wainer Updated 10 months ago A powerful productivity tool If the delimiter character occurs between text qualifiers, Excel omits the qualifiers in the imported value. If no character or the apostrophe (') is specified as the text qualifier, "Dallas, Texas" is imported into two adjacent cells as "Dallas and Texas". For example, if the delimiter is a comma ( ,) and the text qualifier is a quotation mark ( "), "Dallas, Texas" is imported into one cell as Dallas, Texas. When Excel encounters the text qualifier character, all of the text that follows that character and precedes the next occurrence of that character is imported as one value, even if the text contains a delimiter character. If you know that the text file was created by using a different character set than the character set that you are using on your computer, you should change this setting to match that character set. One thing to keep in mind is that while most keyboards, even those marketed to Windows PC, will work with Mac, some keys may not offer the same functions. With a wired keyboard, you’re always connected, and you never have to worry about charging your device. However, I’ve run into problems with Bluetooth compatibility with some keyboards that aren’t specifically marketed for Macs.ĭespite the convenience of using a wireless keyboard, there’s a lot to be said for going the wired route. That said, you’ll have to remember to keep your Bluetooth keyboard charged or have spare batteries on hand for the times it runs out of juice.Īpple’s own keyboard connects via Bluetooth. Because a wireless keyboard lacks wires, there’s no tangled mess to clutter up your desk-it’s a remarkably freeing experience if you’ve been using a wired keyboard for any length of time. Wireless keyboards are all the rage these days, and most of them communicate via the Bluetooth protocol that’s easy to use and fairly reliable. Because each brand lists dimensions differently, note that in this context, length refers to how long the keyboard is from left to right, width refers to its length from back to front, and height refers to the keyboard’s thickness. I included dimensions for each keyboard in a LxWxH format. Small keyboards are also great for travel, as they can easily fit into your luggage. Petite keyboards take up less desk space, and some people with smaller hands find them easier to use. However, small keyboards have their advantages as well. And because they’re bigger, they’re typically heavier and thus less likely to slide around on your desk during a heavy typing session. Larger keyboards tend to be more comfortable than smaller models because they don’t force your hands and arms into an unnaturally cramped position. One of the most important things to consider when buying a keyboard for your Mac is how big you want it to be. One of the first things I did when I unboxed my new Mac was toss the included Apple keyboard into a drawer and grab a more comfortable keyboard from my repertoire. I’m primarily a Mac user, with an M1 iMac as my main machine. I own several of the keyboards on this list, including the Logitech MX Keys Mini for Mac and the Logitech Craft keyboard, both of which are among my top choices for anyone who does a lot of typing. You'll never have to look at your keyboard again.ĭo you have any questions about the Magic Keyboard with Numerical Keypad or what any of the additional keys do? Let me know in the comments and I'll answer them for you.The Expert: As a tech journalist who spends long days reviewing and writing about the latest gadgets for publications such as The New York Times, Time, and The Atlantic, I unabashedly love keyboards and own more than a dozen, which I rotate depending on my mood and what I plan to use them for. It's got all the great Apple-specific features you know and love in the standard model, plus a lot more functionality with seven extra F keys, a half-dozen more control keys, and a dedicated 10-key number pad. If you code or work with numbers a lot, the Magic Keyboard with Numerical Keypad is a must-have addition to your arsenal. It feels and looks exactly like the standard model. Otherwise, it's merely an extension to the Magic Keyboard with a couple of cool additional key controls. If you tend to use keyboard short cuts and really don't use a mouse or trackpad very often, the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is definitely worth an upgrade, but only if you tend to use numbers a lot.If your keyboard tray is less than 25 inches in length and you use a trackpad or mouse a lot, this keyboard is not for you.Whether you should get the Magic Keyboard with Numerical Keypad depends on your desktop setup and just how much you'll use that extra 5.5 inches. Since I don't need the number pad, I'm probably going to switch back to the standard Magic Keyboard soon (but not right away because I still want to play with its extra keys). Personally, I love it, but I don't love how much room it takes up on my keyboard tray. I don't even need a dedicated number pad, but I've always wished Apple made one for the Magic Keyboard. I've been using the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad for just about a week now. In addition, to Render Process, there are interactive map guides for Concept3D features, our clients, and map styles. This blog is the second of four user guides for Concept3D’s interactive map guides. However, by using a label overlay rather than part of the rendering it can be easily turned on when the labels are needed for information and positioning but then turned off to clearly see the details of the 3D rendering for marketing purposes. The methods involve two phases: the first entails incubation for 2 h under conditions simulating gastric digestion (pH 2, 39☌, and inclusion of pepsin), whereas the second phase simulates 4 h of post-gastric digestion (pH 6.8, 39☌, and inclusion of a pancreatin preparation for enzymatic digestion). The labels can be ‘burned’ into the rendering aka made permanent. Labels are actually an overlay placed over the rendering. For example, adding texture to a field in a common wear pattern. Details are the finishing touches make sure the rendering is a complete and accurate representation. The final steps of the rendering process is adding details to the rendering itself and labels if necessary. This is for accurately representing vegetation areas but not distract from the points of interest. Only a few tree renderings are used, strategically resized, altered opacity and placed to represent real-life trees but are not the same species of trees. Trees are also created outside the main map rendering but for a very different reason. This allows each building’s unique attributes to be highlighted. An increased amount of animal proteins and products to meet demand for increased human and pet consumption will directly result in an increased amount of animal byproducts, Pond said. Each building is made with multiple rendering and design software. By creating the structures one by one more intricate and realistic end product. Responsibilities include: (infrequent) inspections of pet food manufacturing and ingredient suppliers (excluding USDA regulated suppliers example meat, see USDA below) pet food investigations (based on consumer or veterinary complaint) works in cooperation. The buildings and trees are rendered separately then placed within the outline formed by the grass, paths, and playing fields. The Food and Drug Administration is the main regulatory body over pet food. Major outside areas like a playing field are included at this point, so during the next steps, when the buildings and trees are added, these do not get overshadowed or lost. At this point in the process, the rendering ‘looks’ flat since no texture or details other than the very basics of sports fields is included. Grass, path, and sports areas create the outline or guide for the entire 3D rendering. The process has evolved in that time to become unique to Concept3D. Concept3D at its beginnings, 14 years ago, was a pioneering 3D rendering company the interactive map and virtual tour software came a few years later. |
